Q5, How did you attract/address your audience?
When
it comes to attracting my audience it was essential for me to incorporate
certain headings as I had a specific target audience that my music magazine was
aimed such as; dancehall and bashment, by me mentioning the genre that my music represents
not only will it attract the specific audience that it is aimed at however it
also attracts a wider audience due to the fact that most people know where the
niche genre originates from. Secondly the colour scheme illustrates where the
genre is from (Jamaica), I used colours such as green, gold and black which
represent culture and tradition in relation to the country that is being
represented.
My magazine also has a range of images
both male and female which signifies that the magazine is aimed at both
genders. My main artist is an attractive male model on the front cover of my
magazine in fashionable clothing to promote an enigmatic look, I drew sketches
of what I wanted my front cover to look like and then handed it to my audience
to see what they thought of it. I also done a questionnaire and passed it round
to a variety of people for my music magazine.
On my contents page I wrote about
festivals that would be taking place for my audience which also signifies that
my music magazine promotes functions for people to go to.
In my opinion I believe the layout of
my music magazine is quite sophisticated and elegant which would attract more
viewers to read the magazine.
I received verbal feedback from my peer
groups and they suggested what stood out
to them the most and what stood out to them the least.

7 .Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the the full product?
Over the course of
this production I feel that my technical skills to do
with Photoshop and other technology devices has improved a lot, before
we started this task I never knew how to crop a picture properly
on Photoshop but now I am able to:
¨Crop a picture in a
professional way by using the eraser tool and magnetic lasso
tool
¨ How to use 3 or
more colours for my background
¨How to give an
outline/stroke around my masthead, I done this by right clicking onto the layer
that I want to give an outline to and then when I done this I saw blending
options so I clicked on that and then went all the way down to stroke.
¨How to change the
lighting in a photograph I done this by clicking on to image and then clicking
on auto colour and if I wanted to increase the brightness of the
photo I would need to click on image again and then click on adjustment and
then go to brightness and contrast
¨How I made my main
image look smooth was by using the blur tool
If I was to compare
my music magazine and school magazine together
I would
say that in my school magazine the colour schemes do not link in with each
other and also the typography that I used does not feel as if it was
appropriate for an actual school magazine and it did not seem attractive or eye
catching in any type of way at all my layout to me seems very basic it
feels like I didn't really put a lot of effort or thought in the magazine, I
didn't not put in what issue it was however with my music magazine I
think the colours work well together and the colour scheme works well with the
genre. When I look at it I can already tell that its a magazine that is
representing the a niche genre and also the country that it could be representing.

Problems that occurred with my first music magazine draft
I asked a few of my peer members to look at my first draft of my music magazine and most of them told me;
- Front cover: My colour scheme came across as quite simple, also the colours that I used against the background never blend well to some people however they understood why my front cover was black, yellow and green because the genre of my magazine is 'Bashment' which originated from Jamaica. The quality of the main image was poor, when some of them looked at it they never felt a connection with the artist and the photo itself looked as if not enough input was put in for example lighting and angle shots. Not enough sub headings which meant that the magazine would less likely be able to attract an audience. There was no date of the magazine
- Contents page: Not enough contents. The format of a magazine is not the same as the front because i used a red stroke behind the typography which was not used on the front cover nor did it link in with any of the colour scheme or pictures. Most magazine usually have two or more columns underneath each other and my contents were diagonal from each other. An image of my artist was not placed on my contents page which made him seem insignificant. Not enough pictures present. The font that i used was not very sophisticated meaning my font was unprofessional, the typography that occurs in most magazines are Arial.
- Double paged spread: I did not use a range of different angled shots, such as high angled/low angled shots of the artist. The pictures i used did not blend well with the text, the text did not go around the pictures. the font i used was not the average 12 font size it was bigger than that. I had no pull quotes which is not really needed but it usually attracts viewrs who read an article. No use of effect on the images used

Reason for changing my artist
One of the reasons why i changed my artist is because the person who i am currently using, his style is unique and different compared to the way how some young artist will dress, which means that he would not look uncomfortable if i wanted to place him in a suit or shirt because he naturally dresses that way.Secondly he would be showing off a different representation of youth, the could make some people curious and intrigued to know what the artist on the main front cover is like. Some people will ideaolise the fact that he's steering away from the stereotypical attire youth are usually seen in which are track suits, hoodies and trainers. In one of my pictures i have taken a shot of my artist in everyday casual clothes; jumper and jeans. One of the reason why i done this shot is because after I received my peer assessment feedback and showed my magazine to some of my friends they suggested that i use a casual attire look on my artist so that he attracts a wide range of audiences.
